Introduction
Aerosols are ultrafine suspensions of particulate matters in the air. Though their presence is not always noticeable, they are ubiquitous in our surrounding and therefore a part of what we breathe in. These fine suspensions of particulate matters, such as PM2.5 (particulate matters with an aerodynamic diameter smaller than 2.5 μm) generated via various anthropogenic activities have caused enormous impacts to the atmosphere, environmental ecosystem and public health. Do you know how these aerosols are formed from their gaseous precursors by undergoing a series of complex physical and chemical transformation? How are aerosols of varying resources and chemical compositions differed by each other? How do scientist develop novel aerosol investigation techniques to gain deeper understanding of fundamental physicochemical properties of aerosols? The 1st International Symposium on Aerosol Chemistry and Related Reaction Dynamics (iSACRED) is to be held by the Aerosol Science Research Center (ASRC), NSYSU in Dec 5-8, 2018 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The main theme will be focused on the recent advancements regarding the fundamental physical and chemical properties of aerosols, novel aerosol techniques recently developed that provide new insights of aerosols and their related reaction dynamics. During this symposium, we will also have a forum to discuss the current challenges and future perspective on how to further advance our understanding about the fundamental characteristics of aerosols.
